Complete design and refurbishment of a 140 m2 two-storey apartment in the Rózsadomb area of the Buda Hills.

Our dear friends – a young Hungarian couple – decided to move back to Hungary after years of living aborad, and purchased this two-storey apartment on the top of the Buda Hills, near the woods of Szépvölgy. The apartment needed a complete reburbishment, and the emphasis was on space, natural light and playfulness, with musical instruments and books to feel at home in. The owners had exact ideas about colours, finishes and materials they wanted to use. On the lower level there is a large living, dining, kitchen area, which is connected to the garden by the nearly 5m wide folding terrace door. The lower level is connected by a staircase with custom made wallpaper to the bedrooms upstairs. Playfulness is echoed not only in the unique wallpaper of the staircase, but also in the bath tile patterns, the terrazzo tiles of the kitchen and fireplace, and the bold bedroom wall colors. The owners’ artistic life and openness to unique furniture and fine art will ensure the continued development of this apartment.
